Mary developed her own puppetry teaching methodology as part of her research at UCF. The Puppet L.I.F.E. Method—Lip Sync, Intention, Focus, Expression— equips performers with the foundational skills needed to bring vibrant, character-driven roles to life in theme park entertainment.
In its first year, the program was met with enthusiastic acclaim, expanding to more than 50 students within the first few months and consistently selling out classes.

Orlando Sentinel
“But alongside the laughs, Carlos Filomeno, Anna LeFlore, Amie McGaha and Evan Leigh Rumler do something magical: They evoke a nostalgia for the simple wonders of Christmas and childhood. And if things take a sentimental turn at play’s end before wowing with the well-timed entry of a surprise guest star-well that’s how you wrap up a holiday show in a warm and fuzzy bow.”
“I…laughed hard at Becoming Santa, writer/director Mary Boatman’s charming collection of comedic sketches depicting how a diverse range of different families struggle to preserve the holiday magic for their precocious progeny.”
-Seth Kubersky, Orlando Weekly
“Mary Boatman’s series of connected sketches efficiently and comically present different takes on how children first discover the biggest truth about St. Nick.”
